One church, many altars
ALTARS is one church gathering in multiple locations across New Zealand and Fiji — a community of people from all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life, united by a desire to know God and make Him known.
Our story
We are the church once known as Hope Chapel — same church, same family, a new name that says who we have always been: a place of encounter, a people of surrender.
For years we have gathered to worship Jesus, love people, and extend the hope of the Gospel across Hamilton and into Fiji. None of that changes. An altar, throughout Scripture, marks the place where someone met with God and gave everything back to Him — and that is the life we are still building together.
We believe the local church is God's plan to reach people and transform communities, and that God still meets with people today — changing lives, restoring hope, and calling us into His purpose.
Our Senior Pastors
Pastors Joel & Sarah Fryett
ALTARS is led by Pastors Joel and Sarah Fryett. Together they are passionate about helping people encounter God, grow in faith, discover purpose, and live lives that make a difference.
Their heart is to build healthy churches that worship Jesus, love people, and extend hope to their communities and beyond.
